I can’t think of a more vulnerable setting than being naked in front of the camera…

About me

There’s a lot pressure to maintain a certain amount of masculinity. This is how it has been since the beginning of time. I like to try to show a different side of that societal pressure. I want to capture the authenticity of being completely vulnerable in front of the camera. Traditionally, men aren’t supposed to be vulnerable. I can’t think of a more vulnerable setting than being naked in front of the camera.

I’ve always had a fascination with photography. Most kids beg their parents for the latest toys at the store, I was always asking mine for disposable cameras…do they even still make those? I loved using my sisters and cousins as “models” and setting up scenes to photograph. None of these photos ever turned out as anything special, but it began an early lesson in composition and lighting. Today, I shoot all sorts of subjects but mostly the male form.

Living in conservative Southwest Missouri, it can be difficult to find these subjects and even more difficult to find a place to showcase the art we create together. This is what the shop is about, to show my work on my terms.
